Nanotyrannus The Small Version Of The T-Rex

In 1942, Charles W. Gilmore discover the first fossils of the Nanotyrannus in Wyoming.
Nanotyrannus is the small version of T-Rex. Think of him a mine me T-Rex. I wouldn't want to meet either of them on the street! Would you?

                                                          T-Rex and Nanotyrannus
Nanotyrannus is know as the "tiny tyrant" He might of been "tiny" coming in at a mere 7 ft. in height, 17 feet long and weighing bout 1 ton. Tho, that's not my definition of tiny!

Nanotyrannus lived in the United States in the Late Cretaceous Period 67-65 millions of years ago. Nanotyrannus was a great hunter, he had sharp claws and knife-like teeth, powerful neck muscles and was a swift and agile predator. Their favorite prey were the hadrosaurs that had the pleasure of living with them. They had great vision and depth perception due to their large eyes which looked forward.

Many paleontologists now believe that Nanotyrannus was in fact a juvenile Tyrannosaurus Rex and not a separate genus of dinosaur. Partially because of the skull bones not being fused together indicating a young animal. Others believe that they might be a type of huge Dromaeosaur.

Paleontology....

Paleontology is define as: he science of the forms of life existing in former geologic periods, as represented by their fossils.

To some this is just a job and for others it is a way of life. I want to hear from you. What do you think of paleontology? Have you ever dreamed of doing this as a job? Do you do this for a living? I look foreword to hearing from you.

Carcharodontosaurus facts

Carcharodontosaurus name means: "Shark Lizard" and all so means "Shark-Toothed Lizard". When it live? Middle Cretaceous period, about 110 to 90 million years ago. Where did it live? Fossils have been found in North Africa. Fossils: Carcharodontosaurus was first known from an incomplete North African skull and a few bones found by Depret and Savornin in 1927 (originally called Megalosaurus saharicus). These fossils were destroyed during World War II. In 1996, Paul Sereno and his team found another Carcharodontosaurus in North Africa; it was even larger than the older specimen.

Length - 26-44 feet (8-14 m) long
Height - 12 ft (3.6 m) tall at the hips
 Weight - 6-8 tons

Carnosaurs: Allosaurus, Acrocanthosaurus, Carcharodontosaurus, Giganotosaurus, Carcharodontosauridae, Mapusaurus, Australovenator

My Thoughts......Dinosaur DVDs

This is a DVD about a man who travels back in time to bring the extinct animals back with him to give them a second chance of life. They put the dinosaurs in a holding pen until their new home is done. It teaches you about how the dinosaurs lived back then and how they might live today.

Jurassic Park is a good movie to show you how dinosaurs fight for survival. It also shows you how hard it would be for us if they were alive with us still today.

Here is another Jurassic Park DVD that has 25 people going to an mysterious island to capture dinosaurs. There are 4 people who try to stop the others from capturing the dinosaurs and putting them in a zoo. But the one dinosaur they were able to capture, broke free and rampaged through the city.

Small and Deadly Raptors

Utahraptor is the second largest raptor in the world and he was about 21 feet long. It had one toe that was extremely sharp that was 1' and 3" long. This toe made it easier for them to kill their prey because it would run after its prey then jump on it and stab it with its' 2 sharp toes. They only travel in packs when their babies hatch.

Deinonychus hunts in packs and is 10 feet long. Since they hunt in packs, it makes it easier for them to kill dinosaurs like the Tenontosaurus. With its razor sharp teeth and claws, it makes it easier for them to bite through other dinosaurs' flesh. It has feathers on itself. It has chicken like legs and hands. The Deinonychus has a long tail for balance in the air.

Microraptor is very unique because it has 2 sets of wings, its front (its arms) and its back (the legs). It loves to eat bugs, small reptiles and small mammals. It has small sharp claws and small sharp teeth they used it tear its prey apart.
