Giganotosaurus carolinii

Giganotosaurus' full name is giganotosaurus carolinii. Pronunciation: JYE-ga-NO-toe-SORE-us CARE-oh-LEAN-ee-eye. Giganotosaurus was the longest meat-eating dinosaur yet discovered is Giganotosaurus, a 44-46 ft long behemoth, who weighed about 8 tons and stood 12 feet tall (at the hips). It walked on two legs, had a brain the size of a banana, and an enormous jaws with 8-inch long serrated teeth in a 6-foot  long skull. Giganotosaurus was a theropod from the mid-Cretaceous, living about 100-95 million years ago, toward the end of the Mesozoic Era, the "Age of Reptiles".                                                                                Giga-noto-saurus means "giant southern reptile". Its fossil was unearthed in Argentina in 1994. They found 70% of the skeleton has been found. You will never guess what they found near the Giganotosaurus?!?! Fossils were found of 75-foot-long plant eaters, presumably victims of this Giganotosaurus.

Allosaurus, "Meat Eating " Reptile

Allosaurus (Al-oh-SAWER-us) Whose name means "strange lizard." I think they were unique not strange. He was a ginormous meat eater with a huge appetite. Who topped the scales at around a mere 2 tons and was about 40 feet long! He had long forearms which had 3 claw fingers.  A small head, it was only 3 foot big with 2 ridges over its eyes. I would definitely run if I seen it coming. His finger claws where 6 inches long. He would leave a mark!

They used their impressive tails for balance. They grabbed their pray with their sharp claws and held on tight so they wouldn't drop their food. Then they proceed to ripe apart their prey with their razor sharp teeth and claws and feast way. Their favorite pray was the ornithiscians and sauropods. It is thought that they  may have hunted in packs or alone. Alleosaurus was the top predator during the Late Jurassic Period.

Allosaurus lived in Canada and U.S.A. in the Late Jurassic Period (about 150 million years ago). Utah has the biggest fossil site in the U.S.A. There where 60 skeletons of juvenile and adult Allosaurus  found at a single site.  As fas as  evolution  goesCoelophysis is 1st because it lived in the Triassic period , Allosaurus is 2nd because it lived in the Jurassic period, and T-Rex is 3rd because it lived in the Cretaceous period. Allosaurus was king in the Jurassic period because he was the fiercest of all hunters.

Torosaurus

            TOROSAURUS
Torosaurus is related to triceratops because it has three horns and has a big frill to protect it from predators. Torosaurus makes a big circle with their bodies when their young are in danger.  The heads of the adults make the outer wall of the big circle so T-Rex or other predators won't eat their babies that are in the center of the circle.

Torosaurus means "Pierced Reptile" or "Perforated Lizard" because it has two big holes in its skull located in its big frill.                                                                                                Torosaurus is a herbivore witch means "plant-eater" because it eats plants like ferns and bushes.

It roamed the earth during the Late Cretaceous period, 65 million years ago in North America. Torosaurus is a member of the Hadrosaurus family because it has a birds beak. Torosaurus "TOR-o-SAWR-us" is 8 feet tall, 21-25 feet long, and 4 tons. The first skull of Torosaurus was found by John Bell Hatcher the fossil hunter. Torosaurus was named by Othniel Marsh. http://dsc.discovery.com/tv/prehistoric/prehistoric.html

Dinosaurs Alive IMAX 3D Blu-ray
Dinosaurs are wonderful, mysterious creatures who lived millions of years ago. These periods of time are known as Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous. I believe the more we learn about these creatures, the more we know about how they lived and what our world was like back then and how it effects us today. One of the things we learned from them was about how our climate was back then. The dinosaurs had more CO2 in their atmosphere which helped the plants grow bigger and better than today's plants.Though we wouldn't be able to survive in that environment that contained high amounts of CO2.

Before the continents were separated,They were all together and formed a super continent called Pangaea. All of the continents were together until the asteroid wiped out all life on earth but the human and rat size mammals and reptiles went under ground and sadly the larger dinosaurs died out forever on earth. Today the ancestors of the meat-eating theropods can be found just look at the eagles, hawks, falcons, vultures, owls, and hunting birds. We know from the fossils what they ate, where they were from, what there species were, and what period the species was from. As we continue to dig we will learn more and more of what the world will come to be.

                Dino Fun Facts

Ankylosaurus has a club tail, spikes all around its back, a hard armor on its back. Ankylosaurus lived in the Cretaceous period. Nanotyranno is a smaller version of T-Rex and Nanotyranno has a swift and agile body an a good Hunter. Nanotyranno long back legs with 3 claws on each foot, has a head full of sharp knife like teeth, and a tail for balance when it is runing. Nanotyranno lived in the Cretaceous period. Stegosaurus lived in Jurassic period. Stegosaurus has four spikes on its tail, and                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            has 20 plates on its back when blood goes to the plates it tells the Stegosaurus females its ready to mate or to tell the rival males it wants to fight.

Megalodon-The Fiercest Shark Around

Megalodon

Megalodon (MEG-a-la-don) is 50 feet long and weighing in 50 tons. You wouldn't want to go swimming with him. Megalodon is one of the large its shark in the world! It was probably two to three times larger than today's great white shark. Come on you gotta agree that is pretty huge!

Megalodon  means "long tooth," because its teeth were not only long but wide and had serrated edges. Megalodon had an extremely sharp sense of smell and good eyesight. Could you imagine coming across one of them today? Megalodon is a meat-eater so its a lethal predator and an apex predator which means its at the top of the food chain in its home turf. Megalodon prey went from small seals to larger prey such as the giant squad and whales. Megalodon lives in ocean waters all around the world in these two Eras Miocene and Pliocene Eras (roughly 25-5 million years ago).  http://www.history.com/shows/jurassic-fight-club-archived/interactives/dinopedia
